my first meme. i'm horrified.

But it was so interesting, I couldn't pass it up. This astrology/name meanings/numerology stuff fascinates me.

FEBRUARY:
Abstract thoughts. Loves reality and abstract. Huh? Intelligent and clever. Changing personality. Attractive. Sexy. Temperamental. Quiet, shy and humble. Honest and loyal. Determined to reach goals. Loves freedom. Rebellious when restricted. Loves aggressiveness. Too sensitive and easily hurt. Gets angry really easily but does not show it. Dislikes unnecessary things. Loves making friends but rarely shows it. Daring and stubborn. Ambitious. Semi-ambitious, but that'll do. Realizing dreams and hopes. Sharp. Loves entertainment and leisure. Romantic on the inside not outside. Superstitious and ludicrous. Spendthrift. Tries to learn to show emotions.

Some of these are a little vague, of course, since it's not exactly science. Try it yourself.

bleh

You take the good, you take the bad, then you take away the good and expand the bad until it fills up an entire book; that's Her by Laura Zigman.

Good god, am I ever through with chick lit. I cannot believe I made it through this entire book. It made me loathe italics and feel bad about my overuse of parentheses.

Maybe other people would enjoy this novel, but it was too chock full of stuff I couldn't care less about for me to like it.

I don't want to get too in-depth plotwise here, because I just DON'T CARE, but: woman is engaged to man who has an ex-fiancée. Ex-fiancée is a manipulative bitch, but current fiancée is a shallow, vapid bore who stalks ex-fiancée while juggling two friends—one whom she feels superior to and one who seems to hate her. And the man whom everything must center around (this is chick lit, after all) is rather dull and annoying and not very bright.

And again I say, bleh.

I've always felt something was not quite right about the whole Jessica Lynch thing. Here's one not-quite-right thing for you.

I also find it rather squicky that one soldier was kind of elevated above all others in that way. I mean, yay, inspiration, but there were other soldiers who suffered, too.

because we need more monetary redesigns

The nickel is a-changin'. I know, I know—whee! when will this merry-go-round of fun stop?

about last night

Did you watch Gilmore Girls? If so, I have a (maybe not-so-bright) question: If Kirk knew so much about the apostles that he could say all the "son of . . ." stuff, how did he not know a book to use for researching Jesus' life? Was that just a line that Daniel Palladino had to fit in, damn the sense-making! Or does it make sense to everyone else?

(And I watched One Tree Hill last night; it makes me sad to report that I love that show, but I do indeed.)

on a quest

I'm trying to find some pretty, inexpensive chopsticks. It would be helpful if I could find sushi mats at the same place, but not necessary.

I found these, which are very elegant, but a little too expensive. (I love the longevity noodle package, by the way.)

Once again, Pearl River makes me a happy girl. Enter 01-KK311254 in the search engine—pretty, yet cheap! My heart goes pitter-pat. And they have the basic sushi mats (01-KK642), too.

Craftster is a lot like Glitter, only with "hipster" in the description. Site for hipsters = no posting for me. I do read the boards, though; there's a lot of really great crafting information.

i love the popgurls . . .

. . . and this is one of the reasons my love is so strong. I'm not alone in my love for Degrassi: The Next Generation, which is an addictive show that fills the void caused by not having any more high school melodrama in my life.

I only wish I had been able to watch Degrassi: Original Flavor when it was around.

brand hot new whee!

Comments, yo diggety. I'd say something like, if you're reading, let me know!, but begging is so 1998.

So, you know, they're there, if you're interested.

(HaloScan found via Pamie via Monique, both of whom are great, great writers. I've read them for what seems like forever.)
